MCKN is set within the suburb of McKinnon on a corner block fronting Jasper and McKinnon Roads.
The architectural envelope can be read as a series of horizontal planes with infill panels making up the facade. An expression of tectonics and reductionism. Smooth concrete at the ground floor level creates a backdrop for feathered shadows cast by shrubs and a surface for climbers to crawl across. Fluted concrete sits wedged in-between the levels expressing the facade as a series of un-connected blade-walls. Glass in-fills the spaces between the concrete panels creating floor to ceiling apertures. Tucked behind a large terrace, the penthouse level is clad in black-butt timber battens. These timber battens flow on back down through the building providing balustrades to balconies.
